El Jadida, previously known as Mazagan, is a historical city of Morocco. It was controlled by the Portuguese from 1502 to 1769. The city was destroyed by the Portuguese upon their forced departure. It was then taken by the Moroccan ultan Mohammed Ben Abdellah in 1769 and remained uninhabited, it was nicknamed Al-Mahdouma (The destroyed or ruined). It’s Sultan Abderrahman who ordred the city to be rebuit and restaured. He then named it “El Jadida” (The Newest).

We offer one mineral water per person onboard. Our local guide will meet you upon arrival in El Jadida. For transfers between Casabmanca and El Jadida, our English speaking driver/guide will be with you.

N.B: If you are already staying in El Jadida and you want to join your friends (the tour is private) coming from Casablanca then you will not be charged for transfers between El Jadida and Casablanca.

Departure to El Jadida via the highway (2 hour drive). Once arrived to El Jadida, meet our local guide and join your tour

Your tour of this beautiful coastal city will start at the portuguese town or citadel. You will have the chance to enjoy and admire the typical architecture of this town and its ramparts which is a pixture between portuguese and islamic styles. Continue to La Porte de la Mer, or the sea gate where ships unloaded their cargo and from where the Portuguese finally departed. The Cité Portuguese is by far El Jadida’s main sight along with it well preserved Citerne Portuguese, the Portuguese cistern where portuguese used to stock water.

Lunch time. Our guide will take to one of the best restaurants in El Jadida where you can enjoy your lunch (own expense).

After having you lunch you will be given some free time to stroll the Portuguese town at your own peace and time some photos.

03:00 PM

End of the tour and way back to Casablanca. Drop off at your staying location around 5:00 PM and end of our services.
