Chefchaouen, the blue city, is a small town perched in the Rif mountains of Morocco and offering a Mediterranean setting of the most magical. It’s a place with great mythical whitewashed blue corridors and an authentic and welcoming atmosphere.
Once visited, it will be, no doubt, one of your favorite cities of Morocco for its soothing atmosphere and unreal beauty. This city is a balm for the weary traveler, a muse for the avid photographer and a gem for any adventurer seeking new discoveries. Your Chefchaouen day trip from Rabat is an invitation to discover this breathtaking Medina where you will be offred as much mint tea as hospitality and where you can take the time to let go and calmly enjoy the cultural diversity of northern Morocco.
Are you staying at the administration capital of Morocco ? Then Chefchaouen Day trip from Rabat is the day tour you are looking for!
Your guided tour of the blue city will start at Outa El Hammam square, Chefchaouen’s historic tourist attraction, with its large Andalusian mosque and minaret, as well as its many cafés and restaurants. The square is situated in the town center and stands, nowadays, out as one of the most visited sites of the blue city. Outa El Hammam is the oldest of the city’s squares, and over the years it has become famous for its blend of rich history and modern-day commercial and cultural life, which attracts thousands of tourists every year.
Then you will discover the the Kasbah of Moulay Ali Ben Rachid, one of the main historical attractions of the Medina of Chefchaouen. It will probably not be the most impressive kasbah you have had the chance to visit during your stay in Morocco, but it’s still an interesting monument to discover. Within its walls, built in 1471 by Ali Ben Rached, you will find a magnificent garden and beautiful and splendid views of the city. You will continue your visit by the discovery of the old Medina with its narrow alleys, mosques, Zaouias and gates.
The visit will end at Ras El Ma spring, the cornerstone on which the town of Chefchaouen was built. This spring was and still is the town’s sole supplier of drinking water. In the past, it provided energy for the water mills that lined both banks of the spring. It also irrigated the farms that stretched along its course. Ras El Ma is the highest point of the medina and from where you can take some stunning picture of the panoramic views of the city.
The Medina of Chefchaouen is really one of the most beautiful Medinas in Morocco. Try to lose yourself in the maze of its alleys and staircases, where the blue color is a king.
