Essaouira Day Trip from Marrakech

For Marrakech day trips, our English speaking driver/guide will pick you up from your lodging location. Then you will head to Essaouira via Chichawa road. En route, you will stop to see goats on Argan trees and you will be given enough time to take some photos before continuing to Essaouira.

Your morning visit will start at Essaouira port, a real place of life and colors where fishermen give the best of themselves and where the spectacle is permanent: trawlers dumping their fish on the port, repair of nets, manufacture of new boats with ancestral methods and sale. sardines, mackerel at the auction in the hall outside the port. Near the port is the fish market, if you are a fish lover, do not hesitate to take a tour and, why not, do your shopping. The many stands offer fish, each more appetizing than the next. Then you will go explore the city old ramparts that surround the small but sublime Medina. Composed of small pedestrian and colorful alleys, white houses with blue shutters. It is at the same time a place of life. With its craftsmen of cedar wood, its blacksmiths, its weavers, its jewelers, its carpenters, its large place Moulay Hassan. And of course a place of commerce with its souks. During the visit in the medina, you will discover magnificent doors, all blue with carved stone frames. The walk in the middle of small shopping streets which starts from the place Moulay El-Hassan is really pleasant. In the Medina, you will discover the Great Mosque, Moorish cafes, souks, art galleries and of course restaurants. Do not miss the entrance from the south into the Medina, the Bab Sbâa gate leads to a charming little square on which is the clock tower. Cross this square and you will discover the ramparts where the skala of the Kasbah stands, a defensive wall built facing the sea. It is made up of two monumental gates. On this wall, there are many cannons and bastions with a breathtaking view of the ocean.

Your guide will take to one of the most beautiful fish restaurants in Essaouira where you can enjoy your lunch.

After lunch, our guide will accompany you to visit one of the famous women Argan oil cooperatives where you will see how Argan oil is distilled from the the tree hard nuts. We recommend to buy some pure oil before leaving. The tour of Essaouira will end at the beach, Tagharte beach is located south of Essaouira. It is divided into 2 parts. One for swimmers and a further one for water sports enthusiasts (kite surfers, windsurfers…). This fine sandy beach, 6 km long, is clean but with strong winds and currents. Indeed, there is often wind in Essaouira. Only surfers really find their what they need there, with imposing waves. On this beach, it is possible to do many activities (for a few dirhams) such as excursions on the back of camels or horses or even quads rides. You will find your happiness along the beach with the clubs that rent water sports equipment and offer these activities. Do not miss the magnificent sunset sublimated by the presence of the island just opposite.
