El Jadida, previously known as Mazagan, is a historical city of Morocco. It was controlled by the Portuguese from 1502 to 1769. The city was destroyed by the Portuguese upon their forced departure. It was then taken by the Moroccan ultan Mohammed Ben Abdellah in 1769 and remained uninhabited, it was nicknamed Al-Mahdouma (The destroyed or ruined). It’s Sultan Abderrahman who ordred the city to be rebuit and restaured. He then named it “El Jadida” (The Newest).

Guided tour of the city
Your guided tour of this beautiful coastal city will start at the portuguese town or citadel. You will have the chance to enjoy and admire the typical architecture of this town and its ramparts which is a pixture between portuguese and islamic styles. Continue to La Porte de la Mer, or the sea gate where ships unloaded their cargo and from where the Portuguese finally departed. The Cité Portuguese is by far El Jadida’s main sight along with it well preserved Citerne Portuguese, the Portuguese cistern where portuguese used to stock water.
Lunch time
Our guide will take to one of the best restaurants in El Jadida where you can enjoy your lunch (own expense).
Time at leisure
After having you lunch you will be given some free time to stroll the Portuguese town at your own pace.
Way back to Casablanca
End of the tour and transfer back to Casablanca. Drop off at the port of Casablanca according to your cruise schedule. End of our services.
